18A- Create a Customer Avatar

Customer Avatar
I believe my ‘customer avatar’ would be a man who does construction named Nick. Nick is 45 years old. He works in the Florida heat traveling around to different cities doing construction.  He has a wife and 3 children. Nick has two sons and a daughter. His wife works part time at moving company. She is the dispatcher there. She helps route the drivers to where they need to go. When she is at work, her mother comes over to take care of their children. Her mother likes to see her grandchildren and it gives her something to do, because she is retired.

Nick works 12 hour shifts for 5 days of the week. Nick goes to the gas station on his breaks to get a Gatorade and some hot dogs. Nick drives a red 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It is a 4-door. He lives in a 2100 square foot home on a half-acre of land. He goes straight to work and straight home. Nick has a dog named Diesel. Diesel is a 6-year-old boy boxer. Diesel stays inside most of the day due to the Florida heat.

On Nick’s off days, he likes to spend time with his family. One of his sons plays football. He watches his football games on Saturday afternoon. His other son likes to hunt and fish. One Sunday out of the month, Nick will take his son to go hunting or fishing for the day. Nick’s daughter hangs out with her friends a lot, so he doesn’t see her much. When he does, he likes to sit down and catch up with her. They talk about school a lot.

What I have in common with the customer avatar
What I have in common with Nick is that I work outside in the heat a lot for my job. I also have a dog. This is not a coincidence. What I am selling is a lunchbox that acts like a refrigerator. After working long hours in the heat, I saw a need for this lunchbox. Nick sees a need for this lunchbox, because he is also in the heat.

  1. Melanie,
I loved how detailed your avatar description is. The fact that you made him an older, hardworking man fits your vision perfectly. You were also able to create a very accurate photo of an avatar. It is almost scary how well he matches your description!

  2. Hey Melanie
I think the customer and ideal avatar you’ve selected for the product you are selling is spot on. The characteristics that you’ve applied to your ideal customer seems perfect for the product you are attempting to sell. I like the look of the avatar because the way the avatar looks is exactly how I would expect a customer for this product to look like.
